Programs

Middle School Program

The Middle School Program (Grades 6-8) is designed for students and an adult companion to work together throughout the course of the program.

The program begins with an 8-week long virtual class (meeting for two hours each Sunday), in which students will learn about the program’s chosen destination and will delve into the scientific opportunities available for study at this destination.

With the assistance of their adult companion and the program’s instructor, students will select and fine-tune a topic for independent research, and will develop a hypothesis and research work plan. During the week-long expedition-like trip, the students and their adult companions will conduct their research, where they will collect data and begin to assemble and analyze their results. Upon returning home, the students will complete their analyses and write up their results in a polished research paper in the final three weeks of the program.

High School Program

The High School Program (Grades 9-12) is designed for students to work independently throughout the course of the program. However, families are invited (and encouraged) to travel with their students on the week-long expedition-like trip to enjoy a carefully curated vacation, with ample time to join their students on various activities, and to celebrate their students’ research accomplishments in a celebratory party at the end of the trip.
