Safari Research Program

The Safari Research Program offers an innovative opportunity for students who are passionate about science to perform cutting-edge independent research in a unique international setting.

A Rigorous and Rewarding Science Independent Research Experience –

Combined with an Exotic Vacation for Middle and High School Students and Their Families

The Safari Research Program offers an innovative opportunity for students who are passionate about science to perform cutting-edge independent research in a unique international setting.

Students in grades 6-12 will embark on the program in a rigorous 8 week online series, where they will learn about a number of different exciting and important scientific areas of study that are critical to understanding and advancing the knowledge around some of the world’s most intriguing and underexplored natural phenomena. Based on their interests and through the guidance of expert mentors (for high school students), students will select a topic for study, and will design their own hypothesis and research work plan, culminating in an expedition-like trip to an international exotic destination that is rich in the unique natural phenomena that the students will have learned about during the program.

During the trip, the students will observe and participate in their research firsthand by collecting real-world data. Students will write up their research results and many will submit their work for entry into competitive national and international science competitions and/or for publication.

In addition to a rich and rewarding scientific research experience, students in the Safari Research Program will enjoy ample down time with a number of tourist and excursion activities planned during the trip to maximize the social and fun-filled aspects of what, for many, will be a once in a lifetime experience. Families of students are also encouraged to attend the trip. They will be well entertained during the days when students are doing their research, and will be able to join the students for various tourist activities on certain days. The trip will culminate in a research expo, where students will present their research findings to fellow students and their families, followed by a celebratory party.
